Hello, this is barely my second critique, so please bare with me.
Although it is not fully a realistic piece, it has some forms of art that makes it into a realistic feeling. The shading is very will done. As seen here, there may be no details of the scales, but, there is a good fur detail of the mane and with the dragon anatomy pieces (such with the knees). The eyes are rather beautiful, including the crystal.
I would suggest that you should maybe add a perfect sunny background that could fit perfectly with the shading and perspective of the character.
Reason of why I rate "Originality" four stars is because, well, if I'm correct, there are many pictures dealing with the first timer (the baby bird/dragon) going into a phase of skill, either literal or in the idiom way.
In total thoughts: The picture is stunningly beautiful. You can't help but smile at the triumph of flight and at the glorious piece. So, I think this piece deserves a little two thumbs up (way high up!).
Davvero bello.
